Grief is usually only associated with physical death, but "death" comes in many forms. Friendships can die, relationships can die, love can die. In this performative documentary, composed entirely of personal archival footage, I explore the emotional process of grieving the death of a friendship.
concept
I wanted to organize my film based on the Stages of Grief that I felt my poems embodied the most:
Act I: Anger
Act II: Acceptance
In Act II, the concept of a one-sided conversation, conveyed by a voice message, comes into play. There are two sides to every story, and in this film, only mine is being told. The one-sided conversation also implies a lack of communication—a key theme, as it can be both a cause and effect of the "death" of any relationship.
script (poems)
The script consisted of two poems I had written in the past when grieving the loss of my friends.
